News 2020 NIM, CCIM – Updated Proof of Concept on IPFS blockchain


We have updated the Proof of Concept (POC) on the IPFS blockchain under The Content Cloud CaaS (Content as a Service – WIP: Work In Progress) concept.
And we are proactively looking for CDN partners!

The music is streamed from the IPFS blockchain, and all you can see here (music, videos, pictures and code) is stored on the same blockchain with the hash address QmTwiJVqufeCgcNkYUmcMyKEJJkxKLKSvpeDJQu7Fgmead.

Where registration and trade of Copyrights is regarded as disintermediation , registration and distribution of physical files can be regarded as disruptive (The Orchard charges 18% fee where NIM/partners charges 4%) on top of which the DSP can stream directly to subscribers from our CDN and only pay a minor fee (around 1%).

We have added a download service with payment in CREATIVES (CCIM) that we have to host on an external URL (the same as the demo at STIM in September) due to strict security for payment gateways.

Streaming service

However, we are (as always) working on a reporting and payment service for use directly from the IPFS blockchain ecosystem based on streaming user-centric licensing (1 stream – 1 license – 1 royalty payment).

“User-Generated Content”
With snippets (from 15 sec to full 3.5 minutes) of music distributed on the IPFS (or in our own private IPFS forked blockchain), can any user that wants to upload (for instance) a birthday video without getting stopped by the “content-filters” of YouTube and/or Facebook do so!

Not only legally (and regulated) by applying for a license, but also attaching the physical music file from our CaaS (Content as a Service), all within 5 to 15 seconds at any of our White Label partners.

Know Your Customer/Anti Money Laundering (KYC/AML)

To comply with any and all regulated use of our DeFi (Decentralized Finance) and FinTech (Financial Technology) services we have implemented as a KYC/AML solution operation out of IPFS (instantly accessible from all over the world). The KYC/AML solution (provided py PassBase) is given an extra layer of security as it is operated out of the IPFS (when in private blockchain  configuration).

Digital Rights Management (DRM).
DRM is a systematic approach to copyright protection for digital goods (music, video, pictures etc.) and there are many technical solutions out there…

The NIM approach is not a purely technical solution. It’s more of a regulated/legislated combined with the technology of blockchain. Using music as an example, and simply by using our exclusive administration right, all music that’s in out CaaS (Content as a Service) is “protected” by the simple fact that if it is available outside the CaaS, it’s pirated.

This does not stop the Digital Service Providers (DSPs) to provide their customers with the music. They just have to pay the Copyright Owner(s) royalties!

A distributed file system fundamentally changes the way we look for things and is its key feature.
With HTTP, you search for locations. With IPFS, your search for content.
Let me give an example. 
The music track When the moon comes up is located on
Your browser first finds the location (IP address) of the server, then asks my server for the file using the pathname.
With that design, only the owner (NIM) can determine that this is the file you’re looking for, and you are forced to trust that we don’t change it on you by moving the file or shutting the server down.
Instead of looking for a centrally-controlled location and asking it what it thinks /music/WhenThe MoonComesUp.mp3 is, what if we instead asked a distributed network of thousands of computers not for the name of a file, but for the content that is supposed to be in the file?
When WhenTheMoonComesUp.mp3 is added to our IPFS node, it gets a new name: QmSTUzeRAwe6xqELGmb7m5GqZHGBU5iFyyE1cWNzJVYw1F.
That name is actually a cryptographic hash, which has been computed from the contents of that file.
That hash is guaranteed by cryptography to always only represent the contents of that file.
If we change that file by even one bit, the hash will become something completely different.
This ties into the registration of that release of the recording (master) of the copyright for the music track WhenTheMoonComesUp.mp3.

So not only will registration of copyright and the consequently recording right be forever embedded in the ledger know as The CopyrightChain, but the distribution of the actual release WhenTheMoonComesUp.mp3 is forever identified (QmSTUzeRAwe6xqELGmb7m5GqZHGBU5iFyyE1cWNzJVYw1F) and every other release likewise uniquely identified.

Don’t worry. 
You don’t have to remember the new name – there are “yellow pages” that translate that for you.

Or rather for DSPs that uses the CopyrightChain sub-chain CREATIVES to buy CCIMs used to get the license (permit) to present the physical file WhenTheMoonComesUp.mp3 to the end-user.

Obviously, this can be transferred to video and pictures as well as written articles and all others copyrighted/IPR content.
So, the functionality is 3 fold:
  1. It’s a repository for all types of content starting with music
  2. It’s a Content Delivery service
  3. It’s a Distributed files system that can function as a Digital rights management service
All based upon blockchain technology.
